오늘 막걸리 빚기 행사를 보러 돈의문 박물관마을에 갔다.(Today, I went to Donuimun Museum Village to see rice wine making event.)
돈의문 박물관마을은 처음 가본다. 그곳에서 막걸리 빚기 행사를 한다고 하니 서울의 새로운 관광지도 구경하고 행사에 참여해 보기로 했다. 막걸리를 좋아하는 편이라 더 기대됐다.
(It is my first time to visit Donuimun Museum Village. Since there is an event to make rice wine, I decided to visit new tourist attractions in Seoul and participate in the event. I was looking forward to it more because I like rice wine.)
서대문역에 내렸다. 날씨가 흐리더니 비가 조금씩 내리기 시작했다. 우산을 가져왔지만 바람에 뒤짚 히더니 완전히 망가져버렸다. 비가 흩날리는 정도라서 우산을 버리고 점퍼 모자를 썼다. 가는 길에 조금 불편을 겪었지만 뜻밖의 행운은 이런 날 잘 찾아오는 법이다.
(I got off at Seodaemun Station. It was cloudy and then it began to rain little by little. I brought an umbrella, but it was completely destroyed by the wind. It rained a little, so I threw away my umbrella and wore a jumper hat. There was some inconvenience on the way, but unexpected luck comes well on days like this.)
서대문역에서 조금 더 걸어가니 서울도시재생이야기관이 보인다. 왼편으로 몇 걸음 올라가니 돈의문 박물관마을로 통하는 골목이 나왔다. 근현대 개화기 분위기의 건물과 간판이 보였다. 당시의 희망적 기운을 미적으로 표현한 공간으로 느껴졌다.
도심에 이런곳이 있었다니, 꽤 흥미로웠다. 역시 많이 돌아다니고 볼일이다.
(As I walked a little further from Seodaemun Station, I saw the Seoul Urban Regeneration exhibition hall. A few steps to the left came an alley leading to Donuimun Museum Village. I could see buildings and signboards with an atmosphere of modern and contemporary enlightenment. It felt like a space that aesthetically expressed the hopeful energy of the time.
I was surprised to find a place like this in the city! It was very interesting. As expected, we have to go around a lot to find out)
마을 안쪽으로 들어가면 마을마당이 나온다. 마을 마당 주변으로 아담하고 예쁜 건물들이 모여있었다. 레트로 감성이 적절히 느껴진다. 개화기에 새 시대를 향한 소망들이 이러한 공간에서 영감을 얻고 실현되어 갔을 것이다.
(If you go into the village, you will find the village yard. Small and pretty buildings were gathered around the village yard. The retro sensibility is appropriate. The hope for a new era of enlightenment would have been inspired and realized in these spaces.)
막걸리 박물관 안쪽으로 들어가 봤다. 다양한 종류의 막걸리가 전시되어 있었는데 지역별 재료별로 이렇게나 많은 막걸리가 있었다니 신기했다. 마트에서 구입하기 어려운 막걸리들, 마음 같아서는 다 챙겨가고 싶었지만 꽤 비쌀듯하다. 행사 때 몇 개 얻어봐야겠다.
(I went inside the Rice wine Museum. Various types of rice wine were displayed, and it was amazing that there were so many kinds of rice wine by region and ingredients. I wanted to bring all the rice wine that is hard to buy at the nearby mart, but I think it's quite expensive. I'll have to get some when the event is going on.)
내가 막걸리를 좋아하는 이유는 먹었을 때 속이 편하고 급하게 취하지 않으며 맛이 달고 걸쭉해서이다. 막걸리는 직접 만들기 쉽고 만드는 방식에 따라 다양한 맛을 낼 수 있다. 사발에 부어 마실 때 때 허식을 내려놓게 되고 익살스러운 토속 정서가 살아난다. 한국의 전통술을 내놓으라 하면 결국 막걸리 아니겠는가.
(The reason why I like rice wine is that it digests well, doesn't get drunk quickly, and it tastes sweet and thick. Rice wine is easy to make and can be made in various flavors depending on how it is made. When people pour it into a bowl and drink it, they put down their vanity, and the humorous local sentiment comes to life. If someone asks us to serve Korean traditional liquor, wouldn't it be rice wine?)
막걸리 행사가 진행중이다. 막걸리 빚기 체험을 하기 전에 해금 연주 공연이 열렸다. 연주자가 흥겹게 연주를 하니 사람들이 점차 모여들기 시작했다.
(A rice wine event is under way. A Haegeum performance was held before the experience of making rice wine. As the performer played cheerfully, people gradually began to gather.)
연주가 끝나고 막걸리 빈병 쓰러뜨리기 게임과 퀴즈 맞추기 게임이 진행되었다. 지나가던 사람들이 관심을 보이며 하나둘씩 행사장에 모였고 즐겁게 게임을 즐기면서 막걸리를 기념품으로 받아갔다.
(After the performance, a game to knock down empty bottles of rice wine and a quiz match were held. People passing by gathered at the venue one by one, showing interest, and enjoyed the game and received bottles of rice wine as a souvenir.)
막걸리 빚기 행사가 시작됐다. 날씨가 흐리고 비가 조금씩 내렸지만 아이 어른 할 거 없이 얼굴에는 웃음이 가득했다. 나도 참가하고 싶었으나 신청자가 많아 구경하며 사진을 찍기로 했다. 막걸리 빚기 행사가 마무리되자 전시해둔 막걸리의 일부를 방문객에게 나눠줬다. 나도 몇 병 얻어서 기분 좋게 들고 왔다.
(Rice wine making event has started. The weather was cloudy with little rain, but both children and adults had smiles on their faces. I wanted to participate, but there were many applicants, so I decided to take pictures while looking around. After the Rice wine making event, some of the displayed Rice wine was distributed to visitors. I also brought some bottles for free.)
행사 구경하고 박물관 이곳저곳 돌아다녔더니 허기가 진다. 두 손에 막걸리 들고 근처 분식집으로 가서 부대찌개 한 그릇을 먹었다. 견학도 하고 막걸리도 얻고 일석이조의 하루를 보냈더니 밥맛도 좋다. 박물관 마을 아직 안 가봤다면 언제 한번 방문해보시길 추천드린다!
(I am hungry because I went around the museum and looked around the event. I went to a nearby snack bar with rice wine in my hands and ate a bowl of budae-jjigae. I had a field trip, got rice wine, and spent a day killing two birds with one stone, so the food tastes good. If you haven't been to the museum village yet, I recommend you to visit it sometime!)
